Happy Imbolc! I did something I’ve never done before, I took the day off for a pagan holiday. The whole day has felt sacred. I hiked to a waterfall this morning (listened to your post on the drive there) made a “Brigid Cross” with grasses I gathered on my hike, and started working on a painting of what I saw in my underwater room in the last full moon ritual. Today has been a gift. And you are a gift to us all Amanda.

Wow! I love this so much, Pam! More of us should start taking pagan holiday's off. You're an inspiration. I feel like you took all of us with you on your adventures, and I'm so grateful you did! So cool that you created your cross from the grasses you gathered on your hike!

Thank you for this post. It was really informative and I like all of your suggestions for honoring Brigid. I especially love the song you posted; I haven't heard it before, but I am excited to play it while we light our candles tonight. I put fresh flowers on my altar this morning for Brigid and decorated our front door with flowers from our garden. :) My wife and I did a really big spring deep clean over the weekend to prepare for Imbolc and we have our Brigid's cross on our altar. We are both super ready to welcome in everything that Brigid is! Happy Imbolc, everyone!

Oooh, I love all the flowers everywhere and the deep clean. You're inspiring me. I need to do that too! And yes! The song is beautiful, isn't it?? I just did a ritual with a group I work with here in LA where we all chanted that song together and it was so beautiful and I could really feel Brigid's presence as we did it. Maybe you could try it with your wife, with one of you singing the melody and the other the harmony. Brigid will come for sure!

Thank you thank you for this! It was wonderful to have something simple (light a candle, sing along with the YouTube track) I could do this morning to sort of fix the ideas in a practice. Also, I just really love your writing. 💚💚💚

Thanks for reading, Anna! And yes, I love those simple rituals too. Committing to the small, simple ones, brings the energy of magic into my life, and then the bigger ones start to just happen on their own, once the door has been opened a bit.

I found it! Episode 26 of strange magic. It is “Lady of the Beasts.”

Yes! Lady of the Beasts, but she can be many goddesses, Circe, Aphrodite, Diana, lots of animal friendly goddesses out there. But! With the alliteration Brigid does sound especially good.

Is this Brigid the same as Brigid of the Beasts?

I've never heard her referred too that way before, but it would make sense. She has such a strong relationship to the land. Cows and sheep are the beasts she's most commonly associated with. But in the Motherpeace Tarot deck, Brigid makes an appearance on the Strength card, surrounded by animals, and that card is often referred to as The Lady of the Beasts –– so it seems that you're picking up on something here!

I heard about Brigid of the Beasts from a BTW episode, I think it was on the summer solstice. I’m going to have to go back and listen again! I remember you gave us a really beautiful blessing for our pets in that episode. This is random and rambling, but I have a long commute to work and ever since that episode I say a quick prayer when driving to st. Christopher (travel) st. Francis (nature/animals) and Brigid of the beasts for protection of the animals near my path and myself.

Lol! Hilarious that you heard about it on BTW and I don't remember. LOLZ. Well, I'm glad SOMEONE has a good memory in this room, even if it isn't me. Haha. I do remember the blessing for the pets though. I think maybe that was on the Lughnasadh episode tho! At least, that's when I usually do it, but all times are good times to bless our furry friends. xox
