NEW MOON: RITUAL REFLECTION
TAROT & JOURNALING
This week we reflect upon the season, and much like the Harvest Queen (Virgo) herself, re-gather ourselves and prepare for the next passage of our journey.
Below, I give you two options for reflection, you can do them both today on the New Moon or spread them out throughout the week – whatever feels right to you.
JOURNAL PROMPTS
Here, I invite you to consider your skills, and how you’ve attended to them this month.
What have you been practicing this month and how have you been practicing it? (It can be as simple as “going to bed earlier,” or as challenging as “parenting”)
How has your practice rippled through your life; what do you notice?
How would you like to refine this practice in the coming month?
TAROT PROMPTS
This is a three card spread about practice and craftsmanship, reflecting on the spirit of Virgo season. Choose something you’ve been practicing before you pull the cards, your reading will be focusing on that.
1. Card 1 – The Foundation of Your Practice:
This card describes how you’ve been approaching issues such as dedication to your craft/practice, attention to detail, and attaining mastery of your craft this month. This card asks you to consider how the qualities represented by the card show up in your daily practice. Notice what feelings come up for you when you pull this card. If you feel resistance, consider what you’re afraid this card might mean vs. what you hope it might mean.
2. Card 2 – Areas of Growth:
This card reveals places where time, attention, effort will yield strong results. It may describe places in your craft where you are experiencing obstacles, self-doubt, or material challenges that are indicating more care is needed in that area if you’d like to continue to improve your practice. This is what you’re currently working on in your apprenticeship.
3. Card 3 – Your Practice Mentor:
In this card, you meet your guide. It gives you advice as to what can help you, what to pay attention to, tricky parts to navigate and things that could support you as you go. If you’re needing to make decisions about your practice, this card offers strategies on how to approach your decision-making process. Consider this card a loving voice of support. If the card feels challenging, consider reframing your interpretation so that it speaks to you in a loving voice.
