Venus Day Love List: books, podcasts, ceremonies, and your own personal witch mentor
You need to know about these. A Venus Day Love List for 7/19/24
TLDR: An invitation to my next Full Moon Ritual, the Missing Witches Oracle Deck, a podcast I love, two books I love, an enchanted gathering in the Hollywood Hills, and more!
Full Blue Moon in Capricorn Ritual this Sunday at 5pm on Zoom
On this moon, we will practice cultivating an internal sense of safety, returning home to a place we always feel welcome.
Capricorn is the sign of the builder, the one who constructs stable structures to keep us safe and protected. It’s the sign of the goat who can climb sheer cliffs and always have a strong sense of their own center. As the second Capricorn Full moon in the solar season of Cancer this year, it provides us time to deepen our practice of caring for self and others. Join us!
Sunday, July 21, at 5pm PST. All subscribers welcome!
The Missing Witches Oracle Deck is Finally Here!
Of course, we all love the Missing Witches books and podcast, and now we get to love them even more with their Oracle deck! The way I use it is to pull one of the cards whenever I need a guide for my latest conundrum. It’s like having your own personal pocket witch mentor with you wherever you go. I mean! So very helpful! Then I put the card on my altar or sometimes next to my desk as I write. You can order yours here!
How to Develop Your 6th Sense and Become Healthier and Happier
After reading the first paragraph of this article on proprioception I had to put down my phone, balance on one leg, and pass an imaginary rock over my head ten times! Proprioception, sometimes called the sixth sense, is our awareness of our body in space. Our spookiest sense, as we develop it, we become more powerfully aware of the energies moving through the world, and through us. Try one of the exercises and let me know how it goes!
A Book and A Podcast
Do you know the Accidental Gods Podcast? First of all, I love it because I love the host, Manda Scott, who wrote my favorite book series about Boudicca, the warrior queen of England who fought off the Romans. (Get that book!) And she has a beautiful voice! The podcast is full of inspiring interviews that renew one’s faith in the possibility of turning the shipwreck of Western “civilization” away from the iceberg.
And it just so happens that on the episode of the podcast linked above, Scott speaks of her current favorite book, The Half Life of Valery K by Natasha Pulley. She made it sound so good I immediately went out and got the audio book and now I’m OBSESSED and can’t wait to wash the dishes so I can listen to it!
Set in 1960s Russia, it’s about this biophysicist taken from his imprisonment in a Siberian gulag to a laboratory outside of a small village that’s dying of nuclear radiation. Now he has to solve the mystery of what’s gone wrong! Genre: ecological thriller. Much more fun than you ever though nuclear waste could be!
Can’t wait to hear what you think!
