I’m obsessed with these new candles from the queer, nonbinary, trans run shop, Theyfriend Candles. I’ve known Rune – the proprietor of the shop – for a while now and I’ve always been so impressed with their integrity and creative power. These candles are PERSONAL. Every candle is made with love and MAGIC. For instance, I have one of their Pisces candles that was made at the hour of Pisces, when the Sun was in Pisces, while they chanted the Orphic Hymn to Jupiter (ruler of Pisces)! It’s the perfect candle for ecstatic dream work.

Book Recommendation 4 Land Loving Witches
Under colonialism, our language tells us virtually nothing about our relationship to the places we live, how we got here, what the land needs, how we can care for it. For instance, I get my food/resource on Ave. 64, and growing up my Dad lived on Cobble Hill Way (note, there were NO cobble stones in his track home development, and no hills). Whereas, as Keith Basso suggests in his book “Wisdom Sits in Places.”
“For Indian [people], the past lies embedded in features of the earth — in canyons and lakes, mountains and arroyos, rocks and vacant fields — which together endow their lands with multiple forms of significance that reach into their lives and shape the way they think. Knowledge of places is therefore closely linked to knowledge of the self, to grasping one’s position in the larger scheme of things, including one’s own community, and to securing a confident sense of who one is as a person.”
