Hey everyone!! NEW MOON VIDEO UPDATE. I *finally* was able to re-render the video file in Adobe Premiere Pro. The file size was rather large and I guess something glitched. I was up until 6am in the morning trying to upload it, and then I went to sleep and didn’t wake up until 5pm (I can’t believe I slept through my entire birthday 🥳😭😱 — when I woke up I thought it was 5am and that the whole struggle to post the video had been a dream). When I woke saw all your notes about the broken link. I’m so sorry about that. I’m working on it now. I will send it asap. I hope you’ll give this one to me as a little birthday gift. I talked with the moon and she said she’d be willing to let you do the New Moon ceremony anytime during the next week and she’d still honor all of your intentions. Lots of love.
Jake Baddeley, “The Secret Garden.”

Correction:

Before we begin, I’d like to make a correction to the newsletter, “Why Your Intentions Aren’t Working.” In that newsletter I mistakenly misattributed the Abundance Spell to the wrong person. It was actually our dear Larva X who offered that spell and showed us a fresh use for moon water. So sorry about that! Thank you Larva, you’re always full of great ideas and we celebrate you!

New Moon In Scorpio

Scorpio is the sign that rules transformation. Transformation is not just an idea. True transformation is embodied.

When seasons change, they don’t do it conceptually or symbolically. The winds shift their direction, their fragrance turns from honeysuckle to pine. Light takes on a milky hue, leaves fall to the ground. And the same is true in our own lives and in the world. We grow new neural pathways; civilizations rise and fall; transformation happens in the physical world.

We witches pull transformation through our bodies. We direct change, we metabolize it.

There are many changes happening in the world right now. Like Octavia Butler says, we need to learn to direct change. In order to do that, we have to know what it feels like to pass change through our bodies.

This past week I had a client session with one of our Mystery Cult members, Nour K. (a young person who always leaves me feeling so inspired and confident in the next generation of witches — they gave me permission to mention them here, btw).

In our session, she said she needed rituals right now to help her not to lose her mind, to call in strength. Like Nour, I think we all need that right now.

We need rituals to feel calmer, to remind us that we’re allowed to feel grief and rage. To re-instill our sense of trust and faith in the good spirit of humanity.

What follows below is a ritual to help us do that. A practice to move our intentions into our cells and sinews: out of chaos, we bring peace, from our hearts, through our breath and into the world.

Incorporating somatic witchcraft during Scorpio season helps us connect with the deeper aspects of our physical and emotional self. It’s a holistic way of approaching our spiritual practice.

I offer the practice below in love. And thank you so much Nour for the collaboration!

Yours ever,

Amanda

P.S. My birthday falls on today’s New Moon in Scorpio, on the witchy 13th day of the month. Happy New Moon Birthday to me! 🎂🎂🎂

New Moon Ceremony Video

The New Moon is time for quiet, simple rituals that can help you gather your energy, focus, and reset, while connecting to the spirit of the season. In this video, I walk you through the Scorpio New Moon ritual from this month’s Witch Guide.

Timing: This ritual should take you about an hour to complete. You can do it today, on the day of the New Moon, or anytime over the next week. Better to do it on the “wrong” day than not do it at all.

Ingredients: an altar cloth (dark and sheer if possible); a place to lie down briefly (yoga mat, bed, sofa); tea candles (or similar); a black candle (or any pillar candle); matches; incense; seeds and bones (if available); pomegranates (if available); offerings (such as flowers); a cup of water; journal and pen or pencil; tarot cards.

The video includes:

  • An intention setting practice

  • A ritual veil casting

  • A chant

  • A journal prompt

  • A tarot prompt

  • Altar prompts

  • Setting commitments and making offerings

  • A somatic practice

  • Meditation and Visualization

  • Gratitude Practice

  • Calling in peace practice
