Inside: Tips for working with the planets. It can help you with your Saturn Return, with your spells, understanding your chart, making plans, and more.
What happens during your Saturn return? What happens when your Sun conjuncts your Venus? Beginners tend to get overwhelmed by astrology when they have to remember what all the planets mean.
Here’s a simple tip to help you remember how the planets work in your day to day life.
The planets are gods. Let’s throw out the idea that gods are all powerful, all knowing. Gods are forces. They’re webs of connection. We can work WITH these webs, we can ignore them, we can work against them. My favorite way to work with the planets is to collaborate with them.
People tend to find it easier to grasp concepts that are specific rather than abstract. When we associate the planets with the Gods, we can learn their personalities and the way they behave.
Consider this list of possibilities*:
Sun is Apollo
Saturn is Baba Yaga
Mercury is, well, Mercury
Venus is Aphrodite or Oshun
Mars is the Morrigan
Jupiter is Pachamama
Moon is Hecate
Now, imagine you’re going on your first date with someone and Aphrodite is hosting. Then imagine you’re on your sofa making out with the person and Babayaga walks in the door…
The planets don’t dictate what is going to happen. They are energies you can partner with. If you know it’s going to rain put out your planets, but don’t go walking without your rain coat.
When you look at your chart, and you see Jupiter in the 5th House of creative power, and we imagine Jupiter as Pachamama, how would you suppose you could collaborate with her?
I imagine her as loving fruit, the earth, children. I see her as full of abundance, as wanting generosity and reciprocity from you.
This can help you when choosing which gods you want to call upon in your spells, and how to time your magical workings using astrology.
You can understand your Saturn Return by imagining BabaYaga showing up in your life. If you don’t want to get eaten, you better behave with integrity and keep your spirit guides in your pocket at all times.
Learning about mythology can help you work with the planets.
Pluto, the God of the Underworld just entered Aquarius (sign of the innovator, the humanitarian) where he will be for the next 19 years!**
It’s a time of revolution, upheaval, the collapse of old orders, and the beginning of a post-humanist world.
If you want to see what that means for you, book an appointment with me and we can discuss - the angel of revolution has alighted on our planet, and in your life.
And don’t forget to join me next Sunday the 24th at 5pm for the Full Moon in Libra ritual. This is a Moon joining forces with Venus, so expect powerful medicine to heal your heart.
With love,
Amanda
*This list of planetary correspondences is not exhaustive, there are many other associations. Listen and observe how the planets operate in your own life and see what correspondences make sense for you.
**Pluto will be in Aquarius for the next years except for a wee jaunt back into Capricorn in September for 2 months.
