Awen of Scorpio Season: Destruction and Renewal
Scorpio season is the time to recognize that which haunts us. We live in a haunted world. The specters and presences of history, of ancestry, of action and reaction, still live within and around us.
History is remembered in the land.
Scorpio season is ancestor season. Ancestors live in the wind, in stories, embedded in stones, in our bones.
Scorpio season is the time to help calm the restless spirits of our lineage and honor the work of all beings that brought us to this moment.
Ancestral work is witch work.
Samhain, (the witches’ holiday known as Halloween) comes at 15 degrees Scorpio, the sign which encourages us to confront our fears. The sign of the healer who exorcises the wound, exposing that which we’ve kept hidden, even from ourselves.
Hidden fears are part of our family legacies and lineages.
Nature always seeks homeostasis (the condition of optimal functioning for living systems), and so our ancestors want us to right their wrongs and heal the wounds of their conflicts, because only then can our living systems thrive.
As a twilight time of year, a liminal time, during Scorpio season veils become thin between the human and the ancestral realms. Spirits walk the earth.
To become a witch, first we must realize we have the power to walk between worlds as well. To go into the twilight space within which all worlds are affected. There we transform that which cries out for our attention and our care.
May your travels through the underworld this season serve to empower you and enrich the ancestors within the lands on which you stand.
In love and magic,
Amanda
