I’ve been finding The Care Manifesto particularly helpful. This past week, after camping with friends, I went to go visit some of my conservative family in Northern California. We try to avoid politics in order to prevent fruitless arguments, but this time when they asked me if I was so displeased with American politics what I suggested should happen instead, I came armed with ideas.
The main argument of The Care Manifesto is that society, from the family to the state, should be organized around care - for each other, and for all beings. Sounds great, right?
The great thing about this book is that they begin to sketch out how to actually make care the center of culture.
If you, like me, are already sold on the idea that capitalist civilization is not worth preserving and cannot be reformed, but you’ve been frustrated in figuring out how we should start actually building what’s next, then, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU.
We’re meeting to discuss it on Zoom at 6pm PST this evening.
If you don’t have the time to read the full text (links below), I’m planning on reading some excerpts tonight so that we can discuss. So don’t worry, just read what you can!
We just want you to be there.
This text is too important to miss! Looking forward to seeing you there.

Amanda
