REMINDER: Full Moon Ritual Tonight 6pm PST
Cancer moon is a cozy moon. Come get quiet, return to yourself, and cultivate what you hold sacred.
Dear Lover of the Mystery,
I love the seasonal festivals. The buttery pie crust, the opera cakes, the chocolate soufflé (all on one plate). Last Christmas by Wham! and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas. Omar Shariff in Dr. Zhivago truly rocks my world (my girlfriend said she’s sure he’s a pisces. It feels right, all those close ups of him with tears in his eyes being moved by the moon, swoon).
Lots of parties for me this year. Meeting new people (fun, though taxing because I’m such an introvert), and chatting about everything from colonialism to where to get a taffeta tartan skirt.
We walked under bowers of fairy lights, looking at manger’s on a lawn, while bombs drop on Bethlehem, and food trucks are stuck at the Rafa gate while the starving families sit on the other side in the cold, and our gift gadgets are full of copper ripped from the ground by the bare hands of a child.
I know I wasn’t the only one who felt the troubling disorientation of making merry in such a troubled world.
Family brings its own intensity as well, memories, expectations, frustrations, love and noise. I’m longing for a moment of quiet, to rest and remember who I am.
There’s so much beauty we’re going to build together next year. A new world is calling us.
Tonight I’ve designed a Full Moon ritual to help you come back to your center amidst all the changes that are going on in the world. We will come together to settle our nervous systems, focus our energy, and be in community with people who share our values.
At the ritual tonight you don’t have to talk, you can just rest, dream, take some time to breathe in the enchantment, to reflect on how far you’ve come this year and what we’re calling in for the next. All will be merry and bright. I hope you can join us. More info below.
Love,
Amanda

To Prepare for the Ceremony:
Spend a little time before the ritual getting grounded. Light some candles and burn wintery incense.
Take a few moments to check in with yourself. Notice what has been coming up for you at this moment in your life and what your intention for the ceremony is.
Assemble your altar in the way that feels right for you. It can be as simple as a candle, or you can include some/all of the following: earth (stones or bones or pentacles), water (cups, shells, water, vessels), air (incense, feathers, scented oils), fire (candles, volcanic stones, red & orange things). You might also want to include images or symbols that relate to whatever you’d like to receive messages about this evening, and/or if you have images of a deity you like to work with (or ancestors or other spirits, you can add those as well).
Bring offerings. Tonight those would include either a cup of milk (plant milks are fine), or a bowl of salt water, or water with honey in it — any of these work. You’ll probably also want to have incense available.
Bring a journal and pen or pencil.
Pull out your tarot cards and spend a little time connecting with them (holding them) before we begin.
If you’d like to have tea or anything else like that available to you, please make yourself comfortable. Tonight’s is a cozy moon.
