Inside: A short list of things to love, and a reminder to subscribers that we have a Friday Q&A today, we’ll be discussing intuition and dreams, and any other questions you might have. Be there or be square, at 12:30pm PST, on the Substack APP.
Happy Venus Day, witches!
This is just a quick, cheery, Friday note to tell you what I’m loving at the moment.
I always tell my clients to move towards what they love, what they find beautiful. Moving towards what you love will always lead you in the right direction. (Maybe not the easiest direction, but always the direction that will enrich your experience of being human).
The more I practice magic, the more I find that enchantment is less about “making” something happen, and more about “relaxing back into” what is beautiful, and allowing yourself to be drawn deeper into that which brings you delight.
So here are some of the things I’m relaxing back into at the moment…
Music. My heart bursts in gratitude for music. It’s one of the most beautiful, beautiful things we earthlings do. It can unite us, it can make us cry. People dedicate their lives to it (which makes me want to cry right now!). If you introduce music to a moment, it can change everything. I’m especially loving the song below at the moment. It’s about the Verdolaga plant, which according to the lyrics is pretty and green, watered abundantly, but the chanteuse lost it, not because she was a coward, but “because god wanted it”:
I’m loving the “mostly queer group of ‘gutter pagans’” who raised enough money to buy over $1.6 million dollars of medical debt. It had gone into default, which meant they could buy it for cheap — then they burned the collection papers in a ritual, saving thousands of Philadelphians from being harassed by debt collectors for the crime of getting sick without being a billionaire. Witches are just so damn rad! I also love that one of them in this picture is wearing one of the L.A. art witches’ favorite designers, Osei Duro!
Speaking of art witches, I had the honor of being included in an online exhibition on Art & Magic by one of my favorite scholars, Kathryn Turley-Sonne, PhD. The show is in honor of the Autumn Equinox. I know and love many of the artists in this online show and I’m so excited to have a place to share their work with you. The work spans the gamut of poetry, painting, incubus infused jewelry, sculpture made of bees wax, solidarity spells and more. If you’re a witch and you love art, this show should be on your radar.
Now it’s your turn, dear Lovers of the Mystery. What beautiful things are you “relaxing back into” today?
As an offering to Venus, name something you love in the comments below.
Love,
Amanda
