Beloved Mystery Culters,
I got the best comment from a follower on Instagram yesterday on a post I made about calling love into our lives.

At first your love spells helped me feel love for myself and express love for my friends and nature. And after I got comfortable with that they helped me find an amazing partner. The spells have also increased my ability to love and receive love.
There are so many ways to love!
Capitalist culture panders a lot to “self love” or “self care”, but what it means by that is: pamper yourself by buying products that make you forget how alienated and exhausted you feel.
Products can be cool. I love red lipstick and bubble bath as much as the next person. But a product is NEVER going to make you love yourself or bring love into your life…
… because real love doesn’t require you to improve. And the idea that you need to improve, or that you’re only lovable “if etc. etc.” is the thing that blocks us from experiencing love in the first place.
Real love doesn’t make you feel like there’s something wrong with you that only bubble bath and cellulite cream can fix.
And while people certainly can and will love you before you get to the place where you truly “love yourself”, often we already HAVE a lot of love but just can’t feel it because being able to tolerate love is an intense sensation that many of us can’t handle.
(I know it took me YEARS to handle love and I’m still a work in progress).
For a lot of us, being truly seen, witnessed, appreciated and cared for in an intimate way is unfamiliar and even scary.
It’s been my experience, both in my life and in my clients lives, that when we really show up for ourselves in care, and get to the place where we can 100% trust that we can count on our own love, romantic love shows up for us, like, the very next day.
My wish for each of you is to know that you are truly loved, welcome, holy, delightful and necessary just the way you are. And the more you know that, the more your love will seep out as medicine into the world and help others see the love percolating through us all.
I want to leave you with a song I always sing when I officiate weddings (some of you might recognize it from some of my ceremonies) …
… it’s a variation of a Hindu kirtan, called May the Love We’re Sharing and it’s a great one to sing at your love altar today.
May the love we're sharing
Spread its wings and fly
Across the earth
And bring new joy
To every soul who is alive.
May the blessings of your grace, My love
Shine on everyone.
And may we all see the light
Within, within, within.

I’m so excited to chat about magic and creativity with you.
L.A. Art Witches! Are you free this weekend?
I’ll be holding my first public performance ritual since quarantine began this Saturday February 18th, from 6-10pm. (RSVP required, see below).
Boil Toil and Trouble features work by over 50 contemporary artists in a multigenerational grouping that examines water through the lens of magic, ritual, and the role of the “witch” or medium in contemporary art.
Some great LA Based artists are in the show, such as Trulee Grace Hall and Lita Albuquerque, as well as big names from around the world like Ana Mendieta, Marina Abramović, and Bruce Nauman.
My ritual includes blessings for each participant to awaken the spirit of awen (the flowing spirit of inspiration) within and around you.
The event is free to the public, with ample food and drinks, but you need to RSVP.
RSVP to artincommon@resnicow.com.
Please come come by! I’d love to see you!
Love Spell Ideas
Obviously, Valentines Day is a great day to do love spells, but also, Neptune moves into conjunction with Venus tomorrow, making it a great time to call more love into your life on a spiritual level.
Journal Prompt: Make a list of the things you’ve loved most throughout your lifetime. How have those loves effected you? Choose an image that represents the kind of love you’d like to cultivate in the future. Use it in your meditations and spells.
Movement Spell: Sitting or standing, fill your pelvic bowl with deep amber light, like Orange Blossom Honey lit from within. Tilt your pelvis verrrrrry subtly forward and back, letting the honey move and roll. Your own personal honeyspell to call the bees.
Make a love talisman (pouch) filled with stones, herbs, images, and other blessings to call the love you want into your life.
Build an altar to Venus conjunct Neptune, opening yourself to the kind of love that dissolves walls and brings in new connections
Practice a dream spell tonight. As you’re falling asleep, tell your fetch (your dream ally) to take you to the spirit of your future partner and tell them you’re ready for them to come into your life. Or whatever else you feel like you want to do in your dream.
Light your sexiest candle and burn your favorite incense as an offering to Venus.
Complete Self-Love Spell Recipe (for Subscribers)
Below is one of my favorite love spell recipes for self love.
As an example of how it works, one of my clients did this spell, and the day after she completed it, a bolt of lightening entered her mind and told her: “You need to go back to AA.” Which she did.
She got sober, started showing up for herself, and 3 months later she met her partner (after 5 years of being single). Self love magic works!
Here’s the spell…
