I wanted to tell you about your Ostara Candle spell, which commenced on the Spring Equinox (3/19/24)…
As a reminder, on every wheel of the year holiday, I perform a blessing for my Founder’s level subscribers by lighting a candle and saying prayers in their name.
The most recent one launched on the first day of Aries Season, a leap into the astrological new year and was rooted in the theme of “Awakening.”
And I have to tell you friends, this spell was LIT.
First of all, without intending to, I awoke on the Equinox before sunrise – which means that the spell BEGAN with a miracle. I NEVER wake up early. I am a groggy, drag-myself-out-of-bed kind of person…
… I almost considered trying to go back to sleep, but instead, I realized that I was being directed to perform your spell at dawn, instead of in the evening when I usually do it.
The theme was spring awakening after all!
Spirit was giving me a nudge on your behalf.
So I gathered my supplies, put on a white gown, and went out into the misty morning to bless each of your candles and call upon the Morning Goddess to lend her power to our working.
One particular delight of it was that as I was saying the prayers over the candles, I saw that the spring rains had brought a coterie of wild dandelions into my yard, and so I blew the wooly wishes of the dandelions over your candles.
It felt very auspicious!
I gave offerings of a fresh egg, green tea, honey, milk, flowers, desert rose incense, and sprinkled each candle with rain water from a spring storm and Goddess of Abundance oil from Art of the Root.
Once I got started, the spell went so smoothly and swiftly, I felt confident that the strands of the spell knew just where to go for each one of you. Huzzah in all directions!
The candles burned steady and bright, it felt to me like they were all helping and supporting each other somehow…
… and the word that came to me at the end was WISDOM.
So look back through your emails to see what your petition was. Have you gained any wisdom about the subject matter over the last six weeks?

Instructions for the Beltane Petition
Beltane is coming up on May 1st. Please have your petitions sent in to us by Tuesday, April 30th at 6pm.
Since wisdom in regards to the subject of your spell was the message from last time; reflect on what you learned about yourself over the last six weeks (ESPECIALLY in relation to what you petitioned for last time), and then modify your spell petition for Beltane accordingly.
RECOMMENDATIONS / DO’s and DON’Ts
Don’t include someone else’s name in your spell unless it is to pray for their wellbeing (otherwise you need their permission to caste spells on their behalf)
Make sure your grammar is straightforward, if I’m confused reading it, Spirit will also be confused
Short focused prayers (like five words) work far better than paragraphs. Keep it succinct.
Focus on one thing rather than multiple intentions.
Your petition should be oriented around something YOU can do rather than what someone else may or may not give you. It’s about YOUR agency.
Aim for the next rung up on the ladder, rather than trying to leap ahead. So if you hardly ever exercise, and you want to start, instead of aiming for working out every day, say, “I go on four hikes over the next month.” Think achievable and easy.
Think of these spell petitions as processes between you and spirit. These types of workings are so gentle, they’re not really about you “getting something” as much as they are about your growth and relationship with your spiritual practice. These petitions offer you an opportunity to reflect on your journey, and decide what subtle shifts you’d like to make now that will end up taking you in radically new directions down the line, so…
…So let’s say, you want want to have financial security. Rather than wishing for a big, cushy new job, putting the wish out there and hoping for the best, consider what wisdom you gained over the past six weeks. Did you learn anything about your work habits? Did a friend offer you insight into some of your choices? Did an opportunity present itself but you backed down because it felt too overwhelming to take it? These are all opportunities for reflection and gentle nudges so that next time you can petition for openness to unexpected opportunities, for example.

The theme this month is calling energy to something that you want to plump up in your life, something you want to engorge with blood and TURN ON. Please remember to make your petition focused on something ACHIEVABLE and specific. (IOW, No eternal happiness please). Can’t wait to get the juices flowing in your direction! 🍑
