I like to think of Saturn as Ancestor, keeper of collective memory, holding us to intergenerational accountability.

If we understand Saturn as ancestor, we see that Saturn is not punishing us or limiting us, but reminding us that until we heal the wounds wrought or suffered by our ancestors, they’ll just keep repeating themselves.

For example, if you were neglected, you are likely to neglect (either yourself or others). Yet, just knowing that is not enough, healing takes time, it takes LABOR, it takes intervention.

In somatics the concept of blending teaches that when we resist feeling what we don’t want to feel, the blockage becomes stronger, tighter, more rigid in its refusal to change.

When we blend instead of resist, we are telling our somas (our body/mind/spirit)…

“I am willing to feel this feeling with you. I am willing to see what has been locked in this dungeon. I am willing to develop the capacity for freedom with you.”

Saturn is the resistance we meet when we try to heal, and Saturn is the medicine we need for healing, both personally and collectively.

Whichever house Saturn enters in our chart offers us an opportunity to become wise and skillful in that area. Sternly, Saturn will remind us that there will be consequences if we refuse that opportunity to learn.

Often pop astrology portrays Saturn as our enemy when really Saturn is the elder who teaches us to become wise. Yet wisdom is rarely gained via a process of ease and good decisions. Most of us learn the hard way.

Saturn is a teacher in disguise. But when we mistake this teacher for our enemy we run from the very understanding that could change our lives and show us our purpose.

I know that many of you are interested in working with Saturn, but we hardly ever get a chance to workshop our ideas together.

This Wednesday at 2pm PT, I will be holding a Live Chat on SATURN on the Substack APP. I hope you can join us!

I think of our Live Chats as collective journaling and collective inquiry. We start with some reflection questions, do some brainstorming on a theme together, and then usually end with strategies for putting our discussion into practice in your daily life.

In the SATURN chat on Wednesday at 2pm PT, we will:

  • Reflect on the messages you received or may soon receive in your Saturn return

  • Determine where Saturn resides in your birth chart and how to interpret what you find there

  • Discuss the Saturn ritual from the Gemini Season Witch Guide

  • Decide how to deepen your relationship with Saturn over the next 2.5 years during the Saturn in Aries transit

I’ll be sending out a reminder on Wednesday! Can’t wait to enter the caves of Saturn with you all!

To join the Live Chat on Wednesday, become a reciprocal subscriber today.* You’ll also get access to monthly moon rituals, witch guides, reading groups, and tarot practice sessions!

*If you’re experiencing income insecurity, but want to join Mystery Cult, don’t be shy, please email us at guardian@oracleoflosangeles.com to find out about our scholarship opportunities.
