Jupiter is in Aries: will you leave your husband?
Jupiter is in Aries (from 12/20/22 to 5/16/23), here's what to expect.
(The voice over has some helpful little nuggets of witchcraft wisdom in it at the end. Hope you enjoy!)
Will witchcraft make you leave your lover?
I don’t want to scare anybody, but sometimes when you start diving more deeply into witchcraft, you’ll break up with your partner or have some other similar event.
Not because witchcraft destroys relationships, but because witchcraft enhances YOU. Practicing it encourages you to celebrate and honor your inner world.
If your relationship can’t withstand you becoming bigger, more imaginative, and more authentically yourself… if it can’t tolerate you believing in the visions that you may have once kept hidden… if your pleasure is not important in your relationship…
… then witchcraft IS FOR SURE a threat to your partnership, your job, or whatever else is making you feel caged. I’m just being honest here.
Over and over again in my 12 years of private practice I’ve seen my clients start practicing witchcraft and soon after cast aside their soul-crushing jobs, their outworn ambitions, their unfulfilling relationships…
Many of us have had the experience where we get into a relationship for the best of reasons, but then after a while we realize we’ve had to turn off parts of ourselves to stay in it. Velvet divans covered in sheets, whole rooms locked away.
In my last Full Moon Ceremony, we did a ritual where we literally opened and explored hidden rooms in our own personal Otherworlds.
Often, the parts of ourselves we’ve locked away or banished are a threat to life as we know it.
In those rooms is the wild part of our nature — the part of ourselves that cannot be tamed, that refuses to submit to another’s will, the part of ourselves that is witched.
Practicing rituals to contact those parts of ourselves HAS AN EFFECT in the material world.
Once we let our inner witch back into our lives, they’re not going to be satisfied with normalcy, and they ARE going to make a fuss about it.
Witches are demanding, but also beautiful; fierce. Once you have a taste of what it’s like to let your inner witch roam free, you’re not going to want to put her back in the cubicle.
Witchcraft is not convenient. But, as the ancient proverb goes, “All that is beautiful is difficult.”
JUPITER IN ARIES
I’m reminding you of all of this right now because Jupiter entered Aries on December 20th, where it will remain until May 16th.
Jupiter conjures largeness of vision. Philosophy. Religion. Jupiter expands your capacity to understand and know.
In Aries, Jupiter expands our capacity to know ourselves. Aries, like all of the signs of the Zodiac, is a mood.
Jupiter, the great lord, enters Aries and his mood is now to expand what it means to be a self.
In Aries, Jupiter takes on the mood of a pioneer of the self. You have the opportunity now to expand beyond the boundaries of what you thought you were.
You are also the bacteria in your guts, the water that you drink, the spirits that guide you.
The colonial world view demands assimilation. Its project is to use everything in its arsenal to get us to doubt ourselves.
We are so indoctrinated by the colonial mindset that, as Robin Artisson (author of the book An Carrow Gwyn: On Sorcery and the Fayerie Faith) argues, we, “almost instinctively set about the task of accommodating our [own] stories to fit the [dominant] narrative.”
But your story matters, and your story doesn’t have to shrink to fit what other people think or say of you.
Tapping into the spirit of Jupiter in Aries, you can use its strength to:
“Protect your dreams. Protect your visions. Protect your stories.”
- Robin Artisson
Okay, but how?
Pay attention to the story you’re telling about yourself and your situation over the next few months. Once you get a sense of what that story is, ask yourself if there’s any way you are shrinking your story to fit someone else’s narrative. Ask yourself, “how might I expand my story here? What if there’s a bigger version of myself hidden somewhere in the background of this?”
If you’re interested in practicing this in a more ritualized context, you can go back to the Hidden Rooms ritual from the Full Moon in Cancer ceremony as many times as you like. There is no end to the number of rooms you’ll find. You are a multiverse!
Ritual has a way of turning the ideas we’re contemplating into material realities.
Practice makes perfect and if you’re uncertain what to do with the information you find hidden within yourself, find an ally in the room and ask them for practical advice. See what happens if you follow it!
With love,
Amanda
P.S. Did this message bring anything up for you? Let us know below! We’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you so much for these reflections on Jupiter in Aries. I, certainly, have diminished myself in the past (not just in romantic relationships, but in friendships and collaborations). Something I’ve been telling myself, especially for 2023, is a saying that holds true no matter what situation, “Don’t set myself on fire to keep someone else warm.” These reminders help to stay focused on who and what I am and to not allow others to tell me who and what I am. Wishing all the best to others in pursuing and expanding YOU this year. Sending ♥️ and 💡 to Everyone.
Thank you for these insights! In addition to colonialist/societal/patriarchal/consumerist pressures to assimilate and make our stories small, families of origin can be a huge source of witch wounds too. Unlocking keys to all the hidden floors and rooms and untangling which are truly parts of us vs. trauma-related survival stories is a heap of work I’m tackling ❤️
