Introducing My New Assistant: My Brother, Conor!
Mystery Cult is now a family biz! + Chariot Year intel
Dear Initiates!
Allow me to introduce, my new assistant, my brother Conor! Conor and I have been wanting to work more closely together for YEARS, and so when my old assistant decided to go to grad school, my new life with Conor was born. He is SO on top of things I can’t even… ugh… he’s making my life so much easier (and my email response time so much faster). He’s an Aquarius, so he gets the weird stuff, and he’s Capricorn Moon conjunct his Ascendant so he runs a tight ship — my file jumble (years in the making) has already been organized. I’m so lucky to have him! Welcome, Conor!
Here’s a note from him to all of you dear Mystery Culters out there:
Hi, my name is Conor and I’m the new Guardian at Oracle of Los Angeles. I’m a native Californian residing in Brooklyn since 2005, with an Aquarian Sun, and my moon and rising are in Capricorn. I’ve spent the last 11 years teaching yoga, and had a previous career as a private chef.Â
I’ve always been drawn toward progressive spirituality, the mystic experience in all wisdom traditions, and feminist theology. I want to find the ways I can shift my consciousness to see and taste the divine in all my experiences.Â
I’ve been a fan of Amanda’s…my whole life! She is my older sister and I’ve had the pleasure of watching her grow from a dancer to an artist to the incredibly powerful and intelligent witch she is today. I couldn’t be more proud to join her in creating a magical and caring space for our coven.
So, if you have any questions about booking an appointment, or an issue with your subscription and write in to the Oracle, it’s probably me getting the email!
If you’re ever in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, you can come check out my yoga class at New Love City or if you want to see photos of sunsets and my dog, follow me @love.conoralexander
Isn’t he the best? I love that picture of us because we look so happy together.
Side note: You REALLY should check out Conor’s yoga class if you’re in Brooklyn. He has been leading teacher trainings for years, and specializes in back pain (which, hello, who doesn’t have this?). I was thinking of having him lead the grounding practice at our next Full Moon ceremony — so it should be extra juicy.
We have dreams of doing a retreat together soon where we practice witchcraft, do yoga, and breathwork. We’ve been looking at Joshua Tree as a destination so keep your eyes peeled for that! Doesn’t it sound dreamy?
If you want to welcome Conor to the community, please feel free to leave a little note below. Yay, Conor! We’re so glad you’re here.
Love,
Amanda
P.S. I’ll be sending out a short grounding meditation that you can use every morning (or anytime) to prepare for your day tomorrow for subscribers. And then this Friday you’ll be getting your New Moon download with witchy ways to stay in touch with your practice throughout the month. Why not join us?
How To Make the Most of 2023, the Chariot Year…
So we’ve now left the year of the Lovers and entered the Chariot Year…
The Chariot Year is all about intimacy with your practice, WHATEVER YOUR PRACTICE IS. Now is the time to show up for it, commit to it, listen to it, explore it, and lean into the discomfort and the beauty of it.
Change requires discomfort. Without discomfort, we don’t grow.
The medicine that the Chariot offers is that it teaches us to ENJOY the feeling of discomfort. The more confident we feel, the more likely we are to enjoy a challenge.
We get confident by failing, striving, practicing – even when we don’t feel like it – and we do that again and again and again. All of which is how we gain mastery, represented by the number 8, Strength (2024).
If you’d like to find out more about how to lean into the pleasure of discomfort in the Chariot year, I’ve got two fun things for you.
Check out our Chariot Year episode on the Between the Worlds podcast, we go deep into the meaning of the Chariot year, reflect on the Lovers year, and give you some ideas about what to expect and work towards in 2023.
Sign up for our Between the Worlds Chariot Year workshop. Not only will you be getting lots of info about the meaning of the year, but you’ll be getting hand-holding style support in order to make the most of it. Join us!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This workshop is a Between the Worlds podcast workshop, so it is NOT included as part of the membership of Mystery Cult. Mystery Cult is my own personal project and Between the Worlds is a separate project I do with my producer Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs. But don’t worry Mystery Culters, I have some special workshops for you coming up so stay tuned!
