How to Honor the Sacred for Virgo Season
Invite to Live Chat on Thursday at 12:30pm PST on Substack APP
After our full moon ceremony I created an altar to honor my daemon, the indwelling creative spirit we all have that brings us inspiration and guidance.
During the ritual, they asked me to give them fresh water every day until the next full moon. Water is life, a means of replenishing; I joyfully agreed to their request.
Since then, I’ve felt inspired to sit in the candlelight in the evenings, journaling, pulling cards, sensing into my roots (quite literally, I’ve been working magic with a master root I got in Salem).
One of my favorite pagan writers, Kadmus, gave a presentation at the Witch Fest on working spirits of the dead, where he reminded us that they often love receiving barley.
The ancient Greeks (Kadmus is a classicist) sprinkled barley in the fields as an offering. So I went to a specialty shop to get some barley for my own precious daemon, but while I was there I also got amaranth — a grain native to the Americas, once outlawed by the Spanish.
Including amaranth on my altar is a step towards honoring the land on which I live, as well as my own spirits and guides.

Tomorrow at 12:30pm we’ll be holding a Live Chat on the Substack App to discuss how to honor what is sacred in our lives.
It seems like a simple question, but in order to answer it, first you have to figure out what is sacred to you. Then, you have to figure out what it means to live in honor of those things.
I’m always so enriched by our Live Chats, it’s a time where we weave together our collective wisdom and come to questions and conclusions that take us far further than we ever could have reached on our own.
I hope you join us!
