Full Moon Ritual is TONIGHT, Thursday 1/5/23, at 6pm PST.

As I’ve been preparing for our work tonight, I’ve been thinking about how important these rituals are. We get so little time to focus purely on the pleasures of spirit and the imagination. Witchcraft is like a very dear friend – how do we stay close to this friend if we don’t spend time with them?
This moon in particular is especially powerful because Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which means this moon promises to be one of the most powerful of the year.
But what does it mean to have a “powerful moon”?
According to the philosopher Richard Tarnas, the moon embodies the archetypal principles, it is “the body and the soul, that which senses and intuits, the feeling nature; the impulse and capacity to gestate and bring forth, to receive and reflect, to relate and respond, to need and to care, to nurture and be nurtured, the condition of dependence and interdependence…”
By opening ourselves to these qualities during the full moon via ritual, we have the opportunity to expand our intuition, to bring forth things from within ourselves that we didn’t know were possible.
The intuitive self does not speak the language of rationality. She/they speaks in symbol, in ritual, in theater and poetry. To access this part of ourselves, we need to deliberately set out to do so.
We have the opportunity tonight to allow the light of this moon to illuminate our sandy depths and reveal the treasures that have been hidden within us.

Preparing for the Cancer Full Moon Ritual
Full moons are a time for listening and receiving messages from your deep self (otherwise known as soul, the part of you that is connected to the all).
In order to prepare for tonight’s ceremony:
Spend a little time before the ceremony getting grounded. Light some candles around your space and burn some incense.
Take a few moments to quietly check in with yourself and notice what has been coming up for you around this moon and what your intention for the ceremony is.
Assemble your altar with earth (stones or bones or pentacles), water (cups, shells, water, vessels), air (incense, feathers, scented oils), fire (candles, volcanic stones, red & orange things). You might also want to include images or symbols that relate to whatever you’d like to receive messages about this evening, and also if you have images of a deity you like to work with (or ancestors or other spirits, you can add those as well).
Bring offerings. Tonight those would include either a cup of milk (plant milks are fine), or a bowl of salt water, or water with honey in it — any of these work. You’ll probably also want to have incense available.
Bring a journal and pen or pencil.
Pull out your tarot cards and spend a little time connecting with them before we begin.
If you’d like to have tea or anything else like that available to you, please make yourself comfortable.
The ceremony begins at 6pm PST and lasts until 7:30pm PST (give or take).
