Ancestral Healing with the New Moon in Cancer
A New Moon spell and a Cancerian bathing ritual, gifts for my family of witches
Today is the New Moon in Cancer: a POWERFUL moon for manifestation especially as relates to home, ancestral healing, and find a sense of belonging.
Astrology buffs will know that the New Moon happens when the Sun and the Moon are conjunct (i.e. appear to be joined together), which makes it a good time for magic because the conscious will (the sun) and the powers of the unconscious (the moon) join forces.
When the Moon is in Cancer, she’s said to be in her domicile, where she is rooted and strong.
This New Moon is conjunct with Jupiter, the holy one, the wise sage bringing the power of expansion and good luck. In Cancer, he’s in the sign of his exultation, where he is bold and empowered.

Cancerian New Moon Bathing Ritual
For those of you who are free subscribers, I didn’t want to leave you empty handed. Read through the following steps, then gather your materials, and take your bath.
Instructions:
Set up your bathing area with candlelight and ocean sounds.
Before you run your bath fumigate with herbs (I like mugwort but sage, lavender, and palo santo will all work well here - if it’s ethically sourced).
Put herbs and flowers in the bath such as: camomile, mugwort, motherwort, rose petals, lavender, lemon balm or whatever you have on hand.
You can also add crystals to the bathwater or river stones (just remember that some crystals don’t tolerate water well so if in doubt, look them up).
While in the water take a handfull of salt, epsom, or bath salts and rub it over your skin and say, “By the power of salt, I cleanse, I clear, I restore, I renew”.
Lay for at least 15 minutes in the water listing your gratitudes and envisioning what seeds you’d like to plant and nurture this month.
