Happy Moon-day, Witches!
I’ve got a bunch of little prezzies for you…
First off, the New Moon is coming up on Thursday, and I’m going to be sending subscribers a video offering to help you work with it. I was reminded of how powerful rituals can be earlier this week when…
…the writer, Holly Solem, wrote an essay for Coveteur Magazine about her experience at one of my Full Moon ceremonies a while back.
One minute you’re sitting in your living room on Zoom — the next minute the moon is helping you talk to your dead Aunt Tawnie about how to work with a rabbit’s foot talisman that’s been caught in the throat of your female lineage for generations.
Ritual helps us speak to our ancestors, heal ancient wounds, receive lucky charms, remember that even when the world seems soulless and dark, that enchantment is always there for us. Inexhaustible and inviting.
Second, I just wanted to celebrate the plant world with you.
My landlord stopped hiring his “gardeners” for some reason. I didn’t like them because they were always spraying poison on the dandelions and then blowing the poison around with leaf blowers. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve slaughtered baby plants I’ve grown from seed at least five times. No one cuts down my seedlings and gets to keep my love.
Anyway, the gardeners haven’t been here and so there’s a waist-high dandelion patch out by my compost heap. Guess what I found there??? A RUFFLED PINK POPPY!!! A volunteer, just a hangin’ in the weeds.
A reminder that when we don’t fuck with it and get in the way, beauty just keeps pouring through! Without any effort, just out of joy. The poppy you see above is called a “common poppy” (papaver rhoeas) - can you imagine?!
We live in a world where if we stop our mayhem for even a moment, beauty comes rushing in. It’s THAT COMMON!
May beauty be common in your week this week.
XO,
Amanda
