Inside: It’s Friday the 13th, a day beloved by witches. In honor of love, here’s a Venus-day love list for you featuring things I love, pet peeves, things that give me hope, and a lunar invitation you won’t want to miss! Subscribers scroll down for the pdf download for the next Reading Group.

Every Little Thing You Do Is Magic tarot deck and guide book by Callie Little and Moorea Seal.
  1. New Favorite Tarot Deck: Every Little Thing You Do Is Magic. I love this new deck for so many reasons. First of all, it’s one of those needle in a haystack finds where the deck is gender and race neutral AND it actually makes sense and is accurate as a tarot deck. Often you can find one or the other but not both. Second, the imagery is so beautiful and evocative, it has both a professional and a hand-made, timeless quality that I love. It doesn’t feel too contemporary (for my taste) with people wearing jeans, but it also isn’t rooted in a false sense of history (like Renaissance cosplay style — not that there’s anything wrong with that, I love Renn Faires). The guidebook is sensitive, straightforward, and easy to follow. AND the deck comes with a little card stand so that you can choose a card from your reading to put it on your altar in your writing spot. LOVE. IT. We all need this deck. Find out more here.

    1. Obsessed with this version of the HP. My Soul Card. I feel seen.
  2. Firebrand, the Movie: Medieval costumes, resplendent lighting, feminist plotlines, and women mystics preaching rebellion among the common folk. All my favorite things! (See the Trailer here). Trigger Warning that this film is not for the faint of heart, nor anyone who might be triggered by domestic violence. Rather than being a costume drama, it’s kind of a horror film in that regard. But still inspiring because it speaks to the daily resistance and ingenuity of women throughout history.

    1. Still from the movie… yes that IS Jude Law playing Henry the VIII
  3. Essay on Gaza: This is one of the best, most thoughtful, humble, open-hearted long form essays about the current genocide in Gaza that I have read. Written by a Jewish historian of the holocaust and former IDF soldier. If you - like me - have felt your faith in humanity eroding with every photograph of an obliterated child or bombed school or hospital… If you, like me, have lost friends in those people trying to justify these horrors (or even if you’re one of those who is doing the justifying) you should read this essay. While it didn’t leave me feeling hopefuly, exactly, it did at least grant me understanding, which is a place from which hope can emerge if we all work together to create it. May we all dedicate ourselves to creating a world where all children are safe and all beings thrive.

  4. Pet Peeve: When your period tracker APP asks you personal questions. Like, I don’t want to text a robot to say how often I have sex or how my boobs feel. Get a life, robot!

  5. Choosing flowers: bc of the way they make your heart leap in joy. #Snapdragons

    1. Photo of my altar on the day of snapdragons.
  6. Full Moon in Pisces Ritual - Tuesday 17th of September, 2024, 6pm PST Magic allows us to see opportunities that we never thought possible, and that in fact WERE NOT POSSIBLE until we all came together to create them. Our next Full Moon ceremony is next Tuesday at 6pm PST. A full super moon lunar eclipse in Pisces. The Pisces moon is the Mystic Moon, we’ll be working with its energy to strengthen our direct connection with the Great Mystery. Doing this work can help us create daily rituals that support our mental and spiritual wellbeing, and that of the world.

Attend next week’s Full Moon ceremony, and stay rooted in your magic with monthly rituals, Witch Guides, reading groups and more by becoming a subscriber today.*
